In a general sense, any raw material containing fillers can be referred to as a composite. However, in this treatise, this term is currently reserved for materials comprising a reinforcement in filamentary form .

Note :

Concrete made from aggregates and cement paste and reinforced concrete are considered composite materials in civil engineering.
