Fluorocarbon elastomers have a number of similar functional properties but also some disadvantages, for example:

  • thermal stability ;

  • resistance to natural ageing, light and ozone ;

  • chemical stability with respect to many products ;

  • acceptable mechanical properties ;

  • intrinsic resistance to combustion ;

  • electrical insulation capacity ;

  • high cost ;

  • high density ;

  • limited resistance to low temperatures ;

  • sensitivity to some products ;

  • high fluoride content.
