2. How can you adapt your checking fixtures to your type of production?

The type and size of your production is a key factor when it comes to setting up a quality control system. Type will enable you to identify the various possible or mandatory controls, as well as their severity and complexity of implementation, while the size of your production will enlighten you on the implementation of these controls.

Large production runs will enable you to set up automated controls directly on the production line, which are more expensive to set up but more profitable in the long term. Sampling is also an option in cases where 100% control is not necessary or impossible (particularly in the case of very high-volume production runs of screws and bolts, or parts with complex geometries). A production run of just a few dozen parts is more suited to manual inspection, with less expensive equipment, or even a service provider.
