5. Define test equipment
A test facility is the tool used to carry out one or more of the tests described in step 2. It can be a software platform or a physical bench. The tool depends on the test support. It can therefore have one of three configurations:
component bench; Example: bench for testing the mechanical strength of an engine intake flap.
system dyno ;Example: an engine dyno to characterize air flow over the entire intake face of an engine.
complete product test bench; Example: a roller test bench to simulate the running of a vehicle.
