1.1 What is grey literature?

Grey literature is a generic term. It refers to documents produced by higher education and research, government, services and industry, which do not enter the usual publishing and distribution channels (subscription agencies, bookshops, etc.).

These are mainly reports, conferences, unpublished work (working papers), presentations, theses, dissertations... printed or in digital format. These documents are sometimes difficult to identify, access or acquire.
