5. Guides to PPE selection, use and maintenance

A number of guides designed to help employers make decisions concerning the selection, use, care and maintenance of PPE have been drawn up by most of CEN's PPE Technical Committees.

In particular, these documents provide a reminder of good prevention practices, the risk assessment process, protective measures to be taken as a priority, and PPE selection criteria. They also include recommendations on user training, storage and maintenance of PPE. They also provide details on the types of risks and activities corresponding to the different categories of PPE and performance levels introduced in the standards.
