1. Description and characterization of phosphogypsum (PG)
This section presents the physicochemical and radiological characteristics of PG. The aim is to establish a database of PGs produced throughout the world and to compare these characteristics with those of products in the same sector, such as rock phosphate and fertilizers.
1.1 Description and physical appearance of the PG
Phosphogypsum (PG) is generated by the wet phosphoric acid (WPA) manufacturing process, as shown in simplified form in figure 1 .
