4. Cell chips
Cell arrays are powerful experimental tools for high-throughput screening of large numbers of samples. Miniaturization increases assay throughput, while reducing reagent consumption and the number of cells required, making these systems attractive for a wide range of assays.
4.1 Cells attached to support
The cells are directly deposited in an orderly fashion on the biochip support, using the same robots as those used for DNA chips. The surface of the biochip must first be functionalized to enable cell attachment. Several types of surface chemistry and polymers are commonly used to immobilize cells
