It is now easy to obtain and purify silk protein inexpensively from Bombyx mori cultures. As a result, fibroin from these silkworms is more widely used in biomedical applications than natural spider silk and biotechnologically-derived proteins.
3.1 Extraction and purification of fibroin
There are several methods for extracting fibroin, nevertheless, the most commonly used technique is dialysis.
