7.1 Disease coding

In all countries, the transition from conventional to electronic medicine requires a major adaptation effort on the part of healthcare professionals, particularly with regard to the use of new standards, terminology and management tools associated with IT. Reference classifications relate to fundamental health parameters. They are validated by the WHO for international use. The standards mainly use :

• International Classification of Diseases (ICD);

• International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF);
