1. The role of crystallization in the industrial process
1.1 Solid chain: crystallization, filtration, drying
Crystallization is the basis for the manufacture of many substances used in everyday life: medicines, foodstuffs, chemicals. The classic crystal production process consists of crystallization or precipitation (producing crystals in suspension), filtration, washing and drying (obtaining powder). As a particle generation stage, crystallization conditions the chemical and physical quality of the product, and influences the subsequent filtration and drying stages. Crystallization is therefore at the origin of the powder's future quality of use. But the subsequent filtration and drying processes also influence the design of the crystallizer itself.
