enzyme ; enzyme

A protein-based biological catalyst that accelerates a chemical reaction without altering the final equilibrium. At the end of the reaction, the molecule is available for a new substrate.

primary structure ; structure primaire

Structure defined by amino acid sequence. It corresponds to the linear protein heteropolymer with two different ends (N-ter and C-ter).

secondary structure ; structure secondaire

Structure corresponding to structural motifs resulting from the extremely rapid folding of the protein chain in space, independently of the amino acid sequence.
