7. Conclusion
The aim of this article was to highlight not only the diversity of aspects linked to fragrance encapsulation, but also the constraints that need to be taken into account. Particular emphasis was placed on the stability of capsules during storage in the final product, and the factors controlling this stability. A critical reading shows that the solutions are, in the end, limited. We know how to encapsulate fragrances for dry scratch & sniff applications, or when water is used as a stimulus for fragrance release. We also know how to encapsulate low-extraction aqueous bases, such as conditioners or low-surfactant aqueous systems. In all these cases, the benefits obtained undoubtedly meet customer and consumer expectations.
