At XIX n the century, many doctors and pharmacists became alarmed by the toxic ingredients found in commercial products. Dr Monin, in particular, warned consumers about products whose claims on the packaging were above suspicion. At the beginning of the XX n the century, pharmacist René Cerbelaud enjoyed counter-typing commercial products and revealing their ingredients.
