9. The hydrogen car

Hydrogen is a fuel that at first glance seems interesting because, when it reacts with oxygen in the air, it yields nothing but water. Nevertheless, like electricity, it is an energy carrier that has to be produced from fossil fuels or water, which can be a source of pollution and CO 2 emissions.

9.1 Consumption

As with the electric car, let's take a look at the average efficiency of a car using a fuel cell and hydrogen as fuel. Whether the hydrogen is produced from fossil fuels or by water electrolysis, the average efficiency is around 70%.
