8. Safety and signage

Railway operations must be "safe". To achieve this, it relies on a set of systems and procedures to which the operating "players" must adhere.

The devices are grouped together under the term "signalling" and include :

  • ground installations :

    • signals,

    • track circuits,

    • signal boxes ;

  • installations on board traction units :

    • capture devices,
