To ensure their propulsion, the various types of rolling stock are fitted with converters and electrotechnical equipment making up a traction chain. In addition, an "auxiliary" energy conversion system supplies power to other on-board equipment: traction chain cooling, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, electrical outlets for passengers, etc.
