2. Railway standards

2.1 CENELEC standard

The CENELEC 5012x railway standard is a variation on the generic IEC 61508 standard, taking into account the specific features of the railway sector and successful experiences (SACEM, TVM, SAET-METEOR, etc.).

With regard to safety management, in the railway sector, the normative frame of reference is made up of the following standards (figure 11 ):

  • CENELEC standard EN 50126 describes the safety lifecycle throughout a project, and the methods to be used to specify and demonstrate reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS);
