5. Conclusion

The specifications for all rolling stock, even though they respond to the diversity of different types of operation, are based on constant dimensioning principles. The envelope of constraints to be satisfied constitutes the framework within which the characteristics are defined. The methodology used to calculate the main quantities enables us to develop the modularity of the equipment used. For example, the general diagrams of traction and braking chains use identical basic components.

In this sense, rail traction is becoming one of the standard applications of electrical engineering and industrial power electronics, contributing to its economic profitability in terms of investment and maintenance.
