4. Design

The creation of a new tramway line justifies an approach that aims to give this means of transport optimal traffic conditions and to take advantage of the construction period to embellish the city and redistribute existing surfaces along the line, with car traffic being greatly reduced without being systematically banned.

• Landscape integration

  Once a consensus has been reached on the best route for the line, experienced architects and landscape architects are usually called in. Their task is to devise solutions for integrating the platform into the urban environment:

  • mineral or plant-based surface coating ;

  • mineral element shades ;

  • tree planting and choice of species, etc.
