Decision threshold

Critical value for which the probability of obtaining a measurement value greater than this value, when the measurand is zero, is equal to α

Detection limit

Concentration for which the probability of a measured value being below the decision threshold is equal to β

Quantification limit

True value of measurand whose estimate is given with a specified minimum uncertainty

Measurement value

Experimental value of the net signal, initially expressed in units of the signal (y ) and which can be converted into units of the measurand (x ) for the purposes of cumulation.
