3. European metrology research programs

With history and changing attitudes in hand, the foundations laid, and proof that EURAMET e.V. had the capacity to manage such programs, both scientifically and financially, the European Commission, convinced of the essential need for metrology in all sectors of activity, proposed to continue the experiment and continue funding metrology programs. The first was a five-year program, EMRP from 2009 to 2013, followed by a seven-year program under Horizon 2020, EMPIR from 2014 to 2020 (figure 3 ).
