3.1 Identify relevant roles in the quality management system

The risk-based approach which permeates the standards is applicable to all subjects, and in particular to the definition of roles which have the greatest impact on the aims and expected results of the quality management system.

This does not mean establishing a hierarchy between roles or people, but it may open the door to differentiated levels of requirements and means associated with different roles. With regard to the QMS alone, supports such as function or job descriptions could be more or less detailed and in-depth, depending on the nature and impact of the functions or positions concerned, and their potential impact on the organization's ability to satisfy customers or supply products and services...
