5. Conclusion

LIMS is a type of application that is becoming as indispensable in laboratories as a CAPM can be in a production unit. All these software packages have evolved considerably over the last few years: almost all products have developed interfaces with the Internet; of course, ergonomic improvements have been made, leading to ever more natural integration of LIMS with the Windows environment, but it is above all in the approach to projects as a whole, and the place of LIMS in the company's overall information system, that developments have been or need to be made.

In laboratory LIMS implementation projects, there is a growing need for interfacing with other tools (ERP, MES, CDS, etc.), which reflects the increasing use of LIMS in R&D activities, and the growing involvement of control in production, or the opposite.
