Aliquot of a gas

A known quantity of gas introduced into a chamber.

White; blank

The amount of noble gas (in moles) released from the chamber following an extraction and purification procedure identical to that used for a sample. This amount must be negligible relative to the concentrations measured in the samples.

Background noise; bassline

An electrical signal generated by a collector when no beam is present.

Static vacuum chamber; static vacuum

A tank in which the vacuum is no longer maintained by a pump system.
