5. Preventive conservation
Preventive conservation encompasses all procedures aimed at preventing deterioration of cultural assets, prolonging their lifespan and avoiding curative intervention. It acts on environmental conditions: climate (humidity, temperature, light, atmospheric pollution), biological agents (insects, micro-organisms) and man (handling of works).
5.1 Conditioning restored objects
After restoration, an archaeological object is returned to its owner, usually a museum or local archaeological service. It can be stored in a storeroom or exhibited, but can also be moved and handled during periods of study by specialists or during work on the collections.
