1. Principle

Introduced some fifteen years ago thanks to the work of M. Reading, differential temperature calorimetry or DSC-TM (MDSC ® , MT-DSC ® ) can be regarded as the evolved form of periodic calorimetry. The fundamental aim of Reading and his colleagues was to separate the temperature-dependent contribution to sample response from that dependent on the rate of temperature change:
