2. Minimum range according to legal metrology

There are not many official documents on the subject of minimum weights. They mainly come from the authorities in charge of legal metrology:

  • International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) ;

  • Ministère de l'industrie, S/Direction de la métrologie.

The normative documents published by AFNOR and CEN/CENELEC reproduce word for word the information derived from legal metrology.

General Chapter <41> of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) has been updated to introduce its minimum weight requirements. USP General Chapter <1251> provides more details on determining minimum weight.

A draft article in the European Pharmacopoeia PE clearly defines minimum weighing requirements.
