7. Conclusion

Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy enables extremely detailed, non-destructive study of matter in all its forms. The high-performance techniques that have been developed make it an indispensable analysis method in all chemical industries, pharmaceuticals, biology and medicine.

We have chosen to present the physical phenomena and parameters from which it is possible to determine molecular or crystal structures, and their dynamics in liquids and solids. A mathematical description that necessarily involves quantum mechanics is not essential for the NMR user, but will be indispensable for the researcher wishing to develop new methods.

In the second part, the characteristics of the devices and examples from the various fields of application are presented.
