5.  Activity metrology

If the detection efficiency can be calculated, and the uncertainty in this efficiency determined, liquid scintillation techniques can be used to calibrate radioactive solutions. The only primary method, i.e. not using a radioactive standard, is the triple-to-double coincidence ratio method. Another method using a tritium standard is the CIEMAT/NIST method.
