Thermogravimetry; thermogravimétrie

A technique for measuring, as a function of time or temperature, the mass of a sample heated or cooled according to a specific temperature program.

Stall; jump

Sudden change in a thermodynamic variable (temperature, partial pressure) during a reaction progress monitoring experiment.

Rate-determining step

An elementary step in a mechanism whose rate constants have finite values while those of the other steps are infinite, and which imposes its speed on the reaction.

Étape élémentaire; elementary step

Reaction stage in which no intermediate species are likely to be formed that can be detected by any experiment.
