Slave; slave

Station that transmits only at the master's request.

Master; master

Station that can take control of the transmission medium to transmit.

Multiplexing; multiplexing

A technique used in networks or data acquisition systems that consists in passing several analog or digital signals over a transmission medium. For example, the CAN bus is a wired network that constitutes a shared resource between several transceivers. The reverse process is called "demultiplexing".

Repeater

Connection of two cable segments or two identical networks to form a single logical network.
