Data presentation devices can be classified according to the form of information presented (analog, symbolic, etc.) or the function of the information (planning, commands, rules).

The fundamental problem is the degree of compatibility between data indicators, operators and controlled elements.

Data presentation devices can be designed according to the functions and relationships between indicators, as well as the frequency of use or the characteristics and working style of the operators.
