8.1 Real-time communication with RT protocol
In automation solutions with distributed intelligence, fast communications between the various intelligent devices may be necessary (although, if the intelligence is wisely distributed, speed is needed above all within the intelligent component itself and not on the network), and above all fast exchanges are absolutely necessary to decentralize IO stations (IO device ); this is what we call PROFINET IO here.
