Overview

ABSTRACT

The function of driving aids is to address the failures of a driver faced with potentially dangerous situations (in the case of an accident or excessive speed for instance). These technologies have been deployed over the last few years and have changed our perception of road safety. These driving aids are the subject matter of this article which provides an introduction to the driving aids and reviews their main functions. Due to recent improvements, various situations can be avoided such as running off the road. The LAVIA project (a limiter adapting to the authorized speed) is dealt with. The article concludes with a review of these driving aids found in Europe and throughout the world.
