1. Key definitions of relative humidity

1.1 Saturation vapour pressure in pure phase

This is the vapor pressure in a state of indifferent equilibrium with a flat surface of pure water ( ew ) or ice ( ei ), at the same temperature and pressure.

In other words, this is the maximum value that the partial pressure of water vapour can reach at this temperature. Above this value, condensation occurs.
