5. Conclusion

Surface temperature measurement is becoming increasingly widespread in industry, for technical or low-cost reasons. At present, thermoelectric couples are widely used for their robustness. Technical developments in platinum resistance sensors and thermistors will extend the range of measurement possibilities. The miniaturization of stand-alone sensors will open up new measurement opportunities. As sensors evolve and are properly implemented, surface temperature measurements should increasingly meet industrial needs.
