Monochromatic optical pyrometry, a non-contact measurement method [R 2 610][R 2 735] , particularly attractive in the high-temperature range, is based on Planck's law, which expresses the luminance energy L 0 of the black body as a function of wavelength λ and temperature T independently of the direction of the radiation :
