Overview

ABSTRACT

Acoustic measurement involves devices which measure the acoustic pressure as well as the intensity of the signal. The article focuses on two specialized devices: sonometers and condenser microphones. The first one indicates the acoustic pressure level, the second contains a diaphragm that vibrates under the action of an acoustic wave. The behavior according to frequency, calibration and also the measurement domains are detailed for each of them. The acoustic intensity, on its part, is the measurement of the transport of acoustic energy in an acoustic field; this parameter remains essential in the strategy of fight against noise pollution.
