6. Whites and fluorescence

The measurement of whites [20][21] can be considered a special case, as it is in this zone that the subjective character of visual judgment is most acute. Moreover, the presence of optical whitening agents complicates measurement.

Definitions

White: qualifier given to colors that meet approximately the following conditions:

  • be practically achromatic for the chosen source;

  • have a luminous luminance (brightness-clarity) Y close to 100.
