4. Relative measures

At present, two main measurement principles are used for relative gravimeters.

The first, used in virtually all relative field gravimeters, is based on measuring variations in the elongation of a spring or spring system.

Consider a vertical spring, with a mass suspended at the end. In equilibrium, the tension compensates for the weight and we have : k(ll0)=mg
