2. Reference materials for metrology
A reference material is a material (pure or mixed) that is used for :
equipment calibration ;
metrological traceability and uncertainty assessment ;
method development or validation ;
as well as various quality control steps.
There are three families of reference materials:
reference material (MR, not certified) ;
certified reference material (CRM) ;
quality control material (QCM).
