3. 6-port network analyzer configuration

3.1 General architecture

A simple 6-port analyzer allows the reflection coefficient of 1-port microwave components to be measured. The dual 6-port network analyzer measures the four S-parameters of 2-port networks. The latter (Figure 3 ) consists of a pair of 6-port networks and allows simultaneous determination of the reflection factors present on either side of the device under test, under a number of different excitation conditions. Thus, the S-parameters of the network in question can be determined from these measurement results.
