3.1 Static measurements
It is essentially the magnetic field measurement that needs to be considered; that of the electric field does not appear to be of interest from a health point of view, and will therefore not be described in this article.
Intense magnetic fields are, for example, detected in the vicinity of industrial electrolysis cells. In particular, those used to produce chlorine from sodium chloride, or to refine aluminum, copper, barium, beryllium, etc. Chlorine production cells typically operate at 4.45 V, with current intensities of the order of 90,000 A. Aluminum electrolysis cells normally operate at low voltages (4.1 V), but with currents now exceeding 270,000 A.
