5. What does the thermal camera measure?

Thermography combines thermal imaging and thermographic measurement: imaging is the technique used to map spatial variations in luminance, while measurement calculates the value(s) of various quantities, in cartographic or non-mapographic form, using a range of other data unrelated to thermography. The more of these other data there are, the greater the uncertainties associated with the results.

(We're only referring here to active thermography methods designed to identify the properties of materials or walls. They are developed by academics and are the subject of a number of conferences (see Pour En Savoir Plus).
