4. Impulse calibration, medium level

The development of shock measurements in the automotive sector, among others, has led to the development of calibration methods for the sensors used in these measurements.

The amplitude range of medium-level shocks extends from 500 to 100,000 m · s –2 while shock durations range from 10 –4 to 10 –3 s.

4.1 Absolute calibration

  • Principle

The sensor is subjected to a sinus-verse shock. The ratio between the electrical value delivered by the accelerometer and the acceleration applied is the sensitivity value.
