3. Prototype of an engine with low environmental impact

LCA can be used simply, without entering into the actual machine design process. It is also very useful for designing the new low environmental impact machines of tomorrow, and there are many avenues of development in this direction:

  • the use of UV-cured, solvent-free swaddling yarns;

  • thermobonding of windings to replace impregnation with polluting varnishes;

  • the introduction of plant-based (non-food) plastics to manufacture non-active parts;

  • the use of offset grain-oriented laminations to limit iron losses;

  • rotational guidance by high-efficiency bearings using ceramic coatings.
