3.1 Context

Industrialists involved in the extraction of natural products, whether juice producers from fruit and vegetables, vegetable oil producers from seeds, or manufacturers of bioactive molecules from different types of plant, generally target a single product from a given biomass. This results in the generation of a very large quantity of waste, by-products or co-products, depending on the type of valorization carried out. Moreover, these products generated during extraction are sensitive to chemical or microbiological degradation, and can further contribute to increased air pollution and soil organic matter depletion.
