10.1 Drawing up specifications

If foreign body detection equipment is to be installed on a production line, it's important to draw up specifications in advance, so as to invite tenders and avoid any misunderstandings with equipment manufacturers.

We have heard of many cases where manufacturers have been disappointed with the performance they expected, because their needs and constraints had not been properly defined.

• Define the product(s) to be detected:

  • nature of the products tested in terms of composition ;

  • type of packaging, precise dimensions, constituent materials ;

  • size and unit mass of product...
