A w : water activity.

Spontaneously fermented beers: beers that ferment spontaneously without the use of cultured yeast. These beers are highly acidic and carbonated.

Bi-orientation: a process used to improve the physical resistance of plastic films or walls (PET, PVC) during manufacture, when they are in a semi-liquid state. The process consists in stretching the walls in two opposite directions, in order to order a beneficial molecular arrangement.

BPA-BIPHENOL A: endocrine disruptor used in polycarbonates and beverage can linings.

Staves: the staves of a barrel or cask are the curved elements that form the side wall of the container by joining them together.
